Gerta Bardhoshi

Gerta Bardhoshi, LMHC, Certified School Counselor, NCC is a Professor of Counselor Education at the University of Iowa and serves as Director of Research and Training for the Scanlan Center for School Mental Health. She earned her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from the George Washington University and has more than 15 years of professional experience across schools, clinics, universities, and the federal government as a counselor, educator, clinical supervisor, and program evaluator. Gerta’s research focuses on best practices in mental health assessment and intervention with school-aged youth, as well as the systemic and professional factors that enable school counselors to practice effectively and prevent burnout. She has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and secured over $17 million in external research funding and was recognized for her scholarly contributions with the 2022 American Counseling Association Research Award.
