Ann Friesema
Core Faculty
Dr. Friesema (she/her), Ph.D., LCPC (IL) is a core faculty member at Walden University in the School of Counseling. As a counselor educator, Dr. Friesema has taught CMHC courses across the curriculum including orientation and ethics, foundations of mental health counseling, trauma and crisis, as well as both practicum and internship. In previous academic settings, Dr. Friesema served as counseling program clinical director and training clinic director. As a current LCPC in Illinois, Dr. Friesema maintains a private practice providing counseling, consultation, and training services. Dr. Friesema's counseling practice provides individual and couples counseling for needs related to anxiety, depression, grief, loss, and trauma. In addition, Dr. Friesema is also a facilitator of the Education as Relational Practice affinity group of the International Center for Growth and Connection. Dr. Friesema's research interest is focused on trauma-informed practice, relational development in supervision, mindfulness-based interventions in counseling and in the classroom setting. Dr. Friesema is a member of ACA, ACES, and NCACES.
