Brigid Carney, (PhD - 3rd year student), MS, LPCA, MBA, PMP, LSSMBB, is in a "recareer" as a counselor after 25+ years as an insurance executive for Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare and several "Blues" plans. Brigid is finishing her practicum at Capella University for a PhD in CES. She received her Master's degree in Counseling from the University of Bridgeport. Before her career in counseling, Brigid was a senior executive. She has an MBA degree with a concentration in Public Health. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt or LSSMBB, an efficiency expert. Brigid helped create many firsts in the insurance industry, including how to save money (Flexible Spending Accounts, Health Savings Accounts, and Health Retirement Accounts). She developed the first Consumer Driven Health Plan (CDHP) which is now the standard commercial insurance plan. Brigid teaches at undergraduate psychology at the University of Bridgeport and formerly taught master's level classes at a local university in business operations, statistics, and project management.
