Lekesha Davis

Assistant Professor

Dr. Lekesha Thomas-Davis is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri. Dr. Davis has worked in community mental health for more than 25 years, specializing in intimate partner violence, depression, trauma and crisis, children and families, and multicultural issues in counseling. She received her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision, with an emphasis in Trauma and Crisis, in November 2018 from Walden University. She currently works at an Assistant Professor at the University of the Cumberlands. Dr. Davis co-founded a specialized behavioral health clinic in 2023 that works with communities of color who have experienced trauma. Dr. Davis has presented on numerous topics including, self-care when working with children who experience trauma, the most common mental illnesses in adults and children, the effects of gun violence on youth, the impact of trauma on diverse populations, intimate partner violence, and many other topics. She is trained in several trauma evidenced based practices, including TF-CBT, EMDR, DBT, and Mindfulness.
