About the Speaker
Stacia' Alexander
Dr. Alexander is a Licensed Professional Counselor - Supervisor who has owned and operated a private group mental health practice for over 20 years. Through her practice, she has spearheaded programs helping over 17,000 individuals and families in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex with an amazing staff of diverse and skilled clinicians. As a "heart teacher," she uses her personal and professional experiences since childhood to connect with people on resilience and success, both in private sessions and mass audiences.
Currently, Dr. Alexander serves as the mental health clinic director at Paul Quinn College, a historically black college/university (HBCU) located in Dallas, Texas. She is also a graduate-level professor and clinical supervisor to aspiring counselors. Her work, especially in minority communities to normalize mental health treatment, has earned her numerous honors.
Dr. Alexander's company has held city, county, and state contracts to provide counseling services, furthering her advocacy to ensure people who would not normally access treatment have full access. She speaks across the United States about the importance of mental health treatment as it relates to other readily functioning areas of our lives, such as professional, spiritual, relationships, and self. She works diligently to spread her message through speaking engagements, books, podcasts, and interviews.
Recognizing that professionals and high achievers often deal with the stressors of success without understanding the impact on their mental health, Dr. Alexander is passionate about helping people understand the importance of addressing all aspects of success – positive and negative – as a tool for handling difficult times, which are often the reason people become distracted and fail to meet their goals. She assists people in understanding the difference between mental illness and mental health to create a more accepting environment for accessing preventive care. By embracing the importance of mental health, people experience higher levels of accomplishment.
Her strategy program, "The Emotionality of Success," has helped thousands of professionals understand that there is more to business development than marketing, finance, and legal support. Through this program, she offers strategy planning in each of those areas as well as the interpersonal development needed to build and sustain successful businesses. Working with the overall person and not just the product or service is key to her success when working with clients.
Most recently, Dr. Alexander launched "My College Mental Health," a comprehensive platform that includes a book, workbook, journal, and Mental Health Wellness Kit to prepare college students by having transparent conversations on their mental health needs.
Despite her dedication to her work, Dr. Alexander's most treasured moments are spent with her husband of 30 plus years, her adult children, her parents, and her closest friends. She welcomes Saturday mornings when she can spend time in her garden and reflect on her faith and blessings. She is a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Arlington and has been a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. since her freshman year of college.
