About the Speaker

Dr. Marsha Boveja Riggio, LPC-S, NCC

Dr. Marsha Boveja Riggio is currently the Chairperson and Professor with the Counseling Department at the University of Southern California.  Her background includes over 20 years of mental health experience that involves 15 years in the U.S. Army as a Behavioral Science Specialist/Mental Health Officer and several years as a Licensed Professional Counselor/Supervisor where she has a private counseling and supervision practice.  Dr. Riggio has many years of higher education, secondary education, and management experience; and much experience conducting local, state, national, and international workshops and training. She is a Past President and Former Executive Director of the Maryland Counseling Association; Past President of the Maryland Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development; Past President of the Maryland Association for Marriage and Family Therapists; Board ofDirector/Secretary for the William V.S. Tubman University Foundation in Liberia, Africa; member of Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Honor Society and Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society;  and member of theAmerican Counseling Association, Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development, and Association for Counselor Education and Supervision. Her research interests are around military, supervision, transculturalism, and youth. When not working, Dr. Riggio spends time with her husband who is a retired USMC Sergeant Major, six children, and cat.
