Sherritta Hughes is a long time community activist, professional counselor, clinical supervisor, and counselor educator. In her activism, Sherritta has facilitated a series of mental health and well-being workshops that center on whole life issues that impact the Black community. Additionally, she has led task forces of advocacy for the community in the form of serving on county mental health Boards and faith-based volunteer work. She continues to practice this activism in Alabama, Maryland, Washington, D.C., and in her home state of New Jersey. Across her career as a licensed professional counselor, Sherritta has been in practice for 18 years, where she centers helping and healing via a wellness and culturally responsive approach. As the owner/founder of Hughes Integrative Wellness, Inc. (HIW) and CESD.biz, Sherritta is the clinical director, lead trainer, curriculum developer, and approved CE provider (ACEP) for licensed mental health practitioners.  Also, Sherritta has a research agenda that revolves around wellness with collegiate athletes, non-clinical populations of African Americans, and virtual group work. Sherritta is the Program Director of the clinical mental health counseling program at Georgian Court University. Currently, Sherritta is a past president of the New Jersey Counseling Association and two multicultural divisions (MCA and NJCA). Moreover, Sherritta is the 2022-2023 NARACES President.
