Janee Both Gragg

Professor and Chair, Department of Counseling and Human Services

University of Redlands

Janee Both Gragg is a Professor at the University of Redlands, Chair of the Department of Counseling and Human Services, Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program Coordinator, and Director of the new Mental Health Training and Integration Center with a passion for preparing counseling students to become social justice leaders and advocates. While empowering them to combat the many faces of mental health discrimination much of her research has focused on 1) therapeutic engagement of diverse communities 2) demonstrating the importance of school-based mental health; and 3) advancing the integration of mental health service delivery. Janee utilizes the counselor-advocate-scholar model (Ratts & Pederson, 2014) as an approach to advancing health equity, maximizing the synergy between community-based learning, mental health advocacy, and the scholarship of engagement.  In 2014 she founded the Alliance for Community Transformation and Wellness which was funded by the California Mental Health Services Administration to raise mental health awareness in the region. As a multidisciplinary leader, Janee was recognized by California Association of School Counselors given her support for and advocacy of the profession. In 2016 Janee served as President for the Board of the California Association of Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors. She is a California Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor with over 20 years of broad clinical experience.
