Thang Tran
Assistant Professor

Dr. Tran has over 20 years of experience in education, serving students and families as a middle school science teacher and counselor in Illinois and Nebraska. He is a licensed professional school counselor in Nebraska. Dr. Tran joined the counseling department at the University of Nebraska Omaha in 2019 and currently serves as an assistant professor and school counseling program coordinator. He teaches multiple courses in school and clinical mental health counseling. He recently completed his Ph.D. at Oregon State University in Counselor Education and Supervision, with a dissertation on cultural humility and the experiences of white school counselors who work with students of color. His research interests also include school and mental health counseling collaboration, technology and adolescent development, and integrating artificial intelligence in counselor education and school counseling. His students teach him as much, if not more, than he teaches them.
