About the Speaker
Alison McAllister
Alison McAllister, LCMHC-S, NCC, is a licensed clinical mental health counselor supervisor in North Carolina, a full-time Family Advocacy Program (FAP) clinical counselor, and the owner of Composition Therapy Services PLLC. She has been engaged in the social justice and trauma recovery arena for over 25 years. Since 1997, Alison has supported survivors of sexual violence, individuals discharged from long-term psychiatric care, children in foster care, and grieving families. She has trained foster parents, empowered youth to reclaim their voices, and supported clients facing perinatal mental health challenges.
With extensive experience in military settings, Alison now supports supervisees navigating trauma and intimate partner violence cases often in areas they did not expect to serve. She brings a multicultural perspective shaped by lived experience across diverse clinical and community settings. Alison is currently a doctoral student in counselor education and supervision, where she co-leads a qualitative study exploring how clinical supervision shapes the evolving identities of new counselors.
