About the Speaker
Lisa Gavin
Lisa Gavin is a Clinical Specialist in the Department of Counseling at Montclair State University, where she also earned her Master’s Degree in Addiction Counseling. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC), and an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) in the state of New Jersey.
Lisa teaches graduate-level courses in substance use counseling, clinical application skills, counseling co-occurring disorders, and family counseling within the context of substance use. In 2018, she was honored with the Outstanding Professional Achievement Award in the Field of Counseling: Addiction Studies.
With a wealth of experience across multiple levels of care, Lisa has worked extensively with diverse populations, with a particular focus on co-occurring disorders. Her work reflects a deep commitment to trauma-informed care—not only in client support but also in clinical supervision. She is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a modality that further strengthens her ability to support clients navigating complex trauma.
