Dr. Rhea Banerjee is an assistant professor at Rutgers University. With her roots as a school mental health counselor in India and further academic achievements through a doctoral program at Penn State University, she brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for addressing the mental health needs of diverse populations.
In her current role, Dr. Banerjee focuses on breaking down barriers and challenging stigmas associated with seeking mental health care, especially among international populations in the U.S. Her innovative research extends to integrating neuroscience into counseling, enhancing the understanding of the brain-behavior relationship in mental health practices. She teaches courses that emphasize cultural sensitivity, tailored interventions, and the incorporation of neuroscience, aiming to make mental health support accessible and responsive to everyone's needs.
