Roman Petrocelli, Ph.D., LPC, ACS, is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Approved Clinical Supervisor, and a Clinical Specialist in the Online Department of Counseling at The College of New Jersey. In 2010, he earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Fairleigh Dickinson University. In 2024, he earned a Ph.D. in Counseling and Supervision at Kean University, NJ, with research interests in counselor supervision, professional peer supervision and consultation groups, and expressive art therapy/edutainment.
Roman has a counseling practice in Florham Park, NJ, specializing in addictions and trauma. Roman has worked with various underrepresented and at-risk groups of adolescents and emerging adults by engaging them in expressive art showcases to demonstrate their talents and strengths and foster a sense of community. In 2015, while serving as Clinical Director of Adolescent Services at Integrity House in Newark, New Jersey, one of Roman's most acclaimed special projects was the "Boys of Bate," a short film about hope and transformation. The film was the culmination of a six-month, one-of-a-kind project, involving a group of adolescent men who wrote, directed, filmed, acted in, and musically scored a 45-minute movie about their experiences in residential substance use treatment.
Roman has served on volunteer boards at the New Jersey Counseling Association as a member-at-large and at HealingUS, a nonprofit whose mission is to support individuals in long-term substance recovery. Roman’s current aspirations are to become more active in prevention, service, and advocacy efforts to reach and nurture vulnerable populations by researching community-based interventions for those with addictions.
