Dr. Sherdene Simpson’s career ladder reflects experience in the academic milieu as an administrator and educator, systemic clinical counselor and supervisor, consultation, trainer, and mentor. Dr. Sherdene has master’s degrees in both community counseling and higher education administration and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision, with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is dually licensed in Florida and Ohio. She is a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in Florida. In Ohio, she is a licensed professional clinical counselor, with training supervisory designation (LPCC-S), and a licensed marriage and family therapist (MFT). She is certified in hypnotherapy, a certified Grief Recovery Methods Specialist, a certified PREPARE/ENRICH seminar director, and trained in Gottman Methods for couples counseling. Dr. Simpson is committed to professional service and serves as a servant leader in local, state, and national associations. Dr. Simpson is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, (ACES), American Association of Marriage & Family Therapist (AAMFT), Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Honor Society, Florida Counseling Association and past president of Ohio Counseling Association. Dr. Simpson's research interest includes multicultural informed supervision, supervision competency, systemic interventions, and treatments. She has practiced clinically in community, hospital, and private practice. She has worked as an adjunct faculty member and a Visiting Assistant Professor of Practice. Dr. Simpson is currently the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program Director and Assistant Professor at Florida Gulf Coast University.
