About the Speaker
Debra Pacheco Rodriguez, MA
Saint Elizabeth University
Debra is a fourth-year doctoral student in the Counseling Psychology PsyD program at Saint Elizabeth University. Her research interests focus on children with ADHD, DMDD, ODD, and other comorbid disorders within the Latino community. Her dissertation specifically explores the experiences of siblings of children diagnosed with ADHD in Latino families, with an emphasis on understanding the unique cultural and familial dynamics that influence their lives. In addition to her academic work, she actively participated in the Paterson School system, where she served as a mentor, helping children both academically and emotionally. She is deeply passionate about providing psychoeducation to underserved communities, particularly within the Latino population, to help empower families and improve mental health awareness. As a Latina herself, she is dedicated to breaking down mental health stigmas within her community. She believes in the importance of creating spaces where mental health is openly discussed and accessible to all. Her ultimate goal is to continue breaking barriers in mental health care and to explore innovative ways to provide affordable, culturally competent mental health services for Latinos. Through her work, she hopes to make a meaningful impact in both the academic and mental health fields, advocating for and supporting children and families in need.
